A 19-year-old St. Joseph man was killed in a two-car accident in LaGrange Township Tuesday at 8:05 a.m., Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood reports.
Brian Wood, 58, of Marcellus, was traveling south on Dailey Road when Johnathon Russel, 19, of St. Joseph, failed to stop at the stop sign on Peavine Street.
The two vehicles collided at the intersection and slid into the ditch.
Russel was pronounced dead at the scene. Wood was transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac with minor injuries.
The drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this incident.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Pokagon Tribal Police, the Dowagiac Fire Department and Coloma EMS. The incident remains under investigation.
