Today is like a national holiday for those who follow college football.

It’s National Signing Day!

For the average fan, they will wait and pick up Thursday’s paper and read all about it, or perhaps tune into Wednesday night’s evening or late news to get the latest on who their favorite team signed.

But for those who are really into college football, they will plan their entire day around the computer, the television set or their cell phone.

Those people have twitter accounts set up with their favorite team or newspaper to get the latest and most up-to-date information on what players will grace their university with their presence.

It’s harmless enough if you keep it all in perspective.

But there are those who will get carried away with the entire process.

We all know someone like that. They will be on an emotional roller coaster then entire day.
If a player chooses their school, they will be high as a kite. If a player selects another school over theirs, they will be down in the dumps.

But despite all that, National Signing Day is truly a remarkable experience for those players fortunate enough to be able to sign a National Letter of Intent to continue their careers.

For man of them it is the culmination of years or hard work. They have put in countless hours in the weight room, on the practice field and in the classroom to earn a spot at a school like Notre Dame, Michigan or Michigan State.

It is unfortunate that so much pressure will be put on these high school players, who have yet to play a down at the collegiate level.

But for today, they can revel in their choices and we can all begin the countdown to the 2010 college football season.
