Niles superintendent candidates announced

In their search for a new superintendent the Niles Community Schools Board of Education narrowed their pool of applicants from 18 down to six individuals Monday night.

Interviews – open to the public – will be scheduled for next week beginning Monday. After those interviews, the pool will be narrowed to one to three candidates and further interviews and possibly site visits will be conducted.

Candidates include:

• Roger Prosise, superintendent, Diamond Lake School District 76, Mundelein, Ill.
Prosise’s interview has been scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m.

• Richard Weigel, assistant superintendent, Ypsilanti Public Schools, Ypsilanti, Mich.
Weigel’s interview is to be held Monday at 7:45 p.m.

• Mark Daniel, principal, Leo Junior Senior High School, Leo, Ind.
Daniel’s interview is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.

• Christina Templin, superintendent, DeWitt Public Schools, DeWitt, Mich.
Templin’s interview will be held Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 7:45 p.m.

• William Eis, superintendent, Potterville Public Schools, Potterville, Mich.
Eis is to be interviewed Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.

• Joseph Murphy, superintendent, Kingston Community Schools, Kingston, Mich.
Murphy is scheduled to be interviewed Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7:45 p.m.

Once a decision is made, the board will offer the position to the candidate and they will negotiate a contract.

They are hoping to name a new superintendent by March 1.
