CHICAGO – Judy Neel Murphy, 83, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, in Chicago.
Judy was laid to rest at Aurora, Texas, Cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 3:30 p.m. at the Fourth Presbyterian Church at Michigan Avenue and Delaware Place in Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northwestern Memorial Foundation, 676 N. St. Clair, Suite 2050, Chicago, IL 60611, in memory of Judy Neel Murphy, for Dr. Gary Mac Vicar’s research on urologic cancers would further Judy’s wish for a cure.
During her distinguished career, Judy was the CE0 of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, Executive Director of the American Society of Safety Engineers, President and member of the American Society of Association Executives and The Chicago Society of Association Executives, and a member the Northwestern Alumni Association Council of 100 Women.
Judy was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago and Silver Creek Methodist Church in Dowagiac.
Survived by: her husband, Ellis Murphy; daughters, Mary Schmidt, Janet Hollingsworth/Dennis, Susan Salinas and Sharon Davenport/Dale; sons, Michael Murphy/Jean, Edward Murphy/Barbara, Randy Murphy/ Susan; grandchildren, James Joseph, Jennifer, James Jeffery, Andrea, Phillip, Andrew, Kate, Edward, Matthew, Meghan Jessica, Tanner and Brooke; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Lucas, Logan, Mason and one on the way; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
