EDWARDSBURG – Police Chief Kenneth Wray reports his department is investigating several children allegedly being involved in a criminal sexual encounter with an adult.

Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz, in connection with the investigation, authorized the following charges on arrested suspect  Allen Hershberger, 27, of Oak Street, Edwardsburg: three charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC); and four charges of second-degree CSC, all felony charges.

Wray reported investigation will continue into Hershberger’s charges with the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) St. Joseph, Mich., office.

Fitz’s office advises there will be a preliminary examination of the evidence Jan. 27-28.
