PAW PAW – Visiting Dowagiac was no match for powerful Paw Paw Friday night in Wolverine Conference girls’ varsity basketball action.

The Redskins nearly outscored Dowagiac by halftime in a 53-29 victory over the Chieftains.

Paw Paw led 12-7 after a quarter and 27-11 at halftime as Dowagiac was held to just four points in the second quarter.

Both teams scored 10 points in the third quarter, leaving the Redskins with a 37-21 advantage heading to the final quarter.

Paw Paw tossed in 16 points in the final frame compared to just eight for the Chieftains.

Jeana Abnet scored a game-high 16 points to lead Paw Paw, which also got nine points from Kendra Cook.

Torie Lowe led Dowagiac with 11 points. Kaisha Martin added six.

The Chieftains will host Comstock on Tuesday in another Wolverine Conference contest.
