EDWARDSBURG – For the second time this season the Edwardsburg girl’s varsity basketball team shut down Buchanan as the Eddies took a 49-28 Lakeland Conference victory in front of their home crowd.

The Eddies built a 10-2 lead after one quarter of play and stretch it to a 20-8 margin at the half.

Rachel Vite paced the Eddies with 18 points  with Emily Kozinski adding nine with Sarah D’Amico and Mariah Murphy each chipping in with eight.

Elizabeth Hein tallied a game high 19 for the visiting Lady Bucks.

“They were very unselfish and I’m very proud of them,” Edwardsburg coach Nicole Cartwright said of her teams execution. “They did all the little things tonight and that is what won this game. These girls are fighters and they are tough and we only have seven kids total on the team but they all work together and they are very unselfish and they move the ball around well. It’s a good season with good kids.”
