Dowagiac comes up short against Redskins, 61-53

PAW PAW – A trio of Redskins reached double figures Friday night as host Paw Paw outscored Dowagiac 61-53 in a Wolverine Conference contest.

John Hillring scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Redskins to the victory. Julian Butler and Luke Vaura each added 10 points.

Paw Paw held just a 12-11 advantage after the opening quarter on Friday night, but stretched it to 26-21 by intermission.

The Redskins remained five points head of the Chieftains at the end of the third quarter as both teams scored 18 points.

Leading 44-39 entering the fourth quarter, Paw Paw outscored Dowagiac 17-14 to finish with an eight-point victory.

Dowagiac (3-6, 3-5 Wolverine) was led by freshman Dontel Highsmith’s 14 points. Jason Turner added nine points, while Chris Craft and Damone Huff both finished with seven points.

The Chieftains will travel to Comstock on Tuesday night for another Wolverine Conference clash.
