Shirley Sue Pease, 79, of Niles passed away on Jan. 20, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

Sue’s life began April 4, 1930 in Dowagiac, the daughter of Maurice and Florence (Weller) Springsteen.  She was united in marriage to Homer Pease on June 8, 1951 at Federated Church in Dowagiac.

Sue was a member of the Federated Covenant Church. She was a life member, past secretary and treasurer of the Dowagiac Conservation Club; Past Worthy Matron and secretary treasurer of the Order of Eastern Star  263; and past-president and past Noble Grand of Rebekah Assembly of Michigan  Lodge 252 . Sue taught school for many years in the Cass and Berrien counties.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Homer Peas of Niles.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her family will gather with friends on Monday, Jan. 25, 2010 from 10 a.m. to noon at Yazel & Clark Chapel, where her funeral services will be held at noon. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac.
