Calvin man’s sentencng scheduled for March 19

CASSOPOLIS – Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz on Tuesday convicted David Blankenship, 39, of 64989 Calvin Center Road, Calvin Township of conspiracy to maintain a methamphetamine laboratory, maintaining a methamphetamine laboratory, maintaining a laboratory involving hazardous waste, possession of methamphetamine and three counts of felony firearm.

The convictions result from incidents which occurred between the dates of Nov. 10, 2009, and Jan. 17, 2010, at Blankenship’s address.

At and around this address, more than 150 one-pot methamphetamine labs were found.
Blankenship’s conviction is a result of a plea, where Blankenship pleaded as charged. As a result of this conviction, Blankenship faces up to 20 years, plus an additional mandatory two years as a result of his felony firearms convictions.

Cass County Circuit Court Judge Michael Dodge took Blankenship’s guilty plea. Sentencing is set for March 19 at 8:30 a.m. in Cass County Circuit Court.
