Dowagiac freshmen rally past Vicksburg 50-45

VICKSBURG – The Dowagiac freshmen boys’ basketball team rallied from a 17-point second quarter deficit to post a 50-45 victory over host Vicksburg Thursday night.

The team rallied behind the 17 points of Cal Cox, while Jalen Brooks came off the bench and scored 13 points to help spark the run in the second quarter according to coach Brad Yaughstetter.

Todd McIntyre added 11 points as the Chieftains improved to 2-2 on the year.

No results were available for the junior varsity contest.

After being held to just two points on Tuesday night, the Dowagiac freshmen girls’ basketball team rebounded to post a 24-20 win over Vicksburg.

Kristyn Turner led the team in scoring with 12 points, while Rachel Bailey added six.

Kelsie Primley scored five points in the Chieftains’ 39-18 loss to visiting Vicksburg in junior varsity girls’ basketball action Thursday night.

Kelsey Cleveland and Erica Greenwood each added four points.
