CASSOPOLIS – A big third quarter helped visiting Bridgman knock off Cassopolis Thursday night in Lakeland Conference girls’ basketball action 52-42.

The Bees outscored the Rangers 18-8 in the third quarter to open up a 40-21 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

The game was tight through the first 16 minutes of play.

Bridgman led 9-5 after one quarter and 22-13 at the intermission.

Cassopolis (4-6, 1-5 Lakeland) poured in 21 points in the final eight minutes of play and held Bridgman (4-4, 1-2 Lakeland) to just 12 points, but it was not enough.

Brandi Gareau did most of the damage for the Bees as she scored a game-high 22 points. Bridgman also got 10 points from Alyssa Krynicky.

Sasha Lanier and Savannah Sullivan both scored 11 points to pace the Rangers.

Damonica Kelly finished with nine points and Reese Ellison six.

BUCHANAN – Amanda Wynn and Julia LaBounty both scored 10 points to lift host Buchanan to its second victory of the season Thursday night.

The Bucks defeated Berrien Springs 41-31 in a Lakeland Conference girls’ basketball clash.

Buchanan (2-7, 2-3 Lakeland Conference) also got nine points from Chelsea Adolph.
Berrien Springs’ Mandy Bromilow scored a game-high 19 points. Gabby Baur finished with eight points.
