DECATUR – Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Dragan, 72, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and formerly of Decatur, passed away Dec. 16, 2009, in Las Vegas.
Betty was born July 11, 1937, in Decatur, the daughter of Leonard and Dorothy (McCowen) Goodrich.
She married her husband, Alfred Dragan, Nov. 21, 1969, in Decatur.
He preceded her in death May 15, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Max Goodrich.
Betty graduated from Dowagiac Central High School in 1956.
She retired from Welch’s Food in Lawton in 1995.
Betty proudly served with the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Celery City Post 6248 of Decatur before moving to Las Vegas.
She was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur.
She enjoyed reading books, going for walks, her independence and loved to tell you what she thought about the government. She will be truly missed.
She is survived by: four brothers, Harold (Cindy) Goodrich of Las Vegas, Dwayne (Liz) Goodrich of Hillsboro, Ore., Gerald (Myrtle) Goodrich of Decatur and Leonard Goodrich of Dowagiac; two sisters, Connie (Richard) Vandomelen of Tillamook, Ore., and Joan (Dennis) Stewart of Grand Junction.
She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and special friend, Lynn Acshenbrenner.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Newell Funeral Home in Decatur with Father Robert F. Creagan officiating.
She will be buried in Lakeside Cemetery, Decatur, next to her beloved Fred.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services.
