OTSEGO – Host Otsego outscored Dowagiac 6-1 in overtime to pull out a 47-42 Wolverine Conference girls’ basketball victory Tuesday night.

The Lady Bulldogs (6-2, 4-2 Wolverine) led throughout much of the contest but was unable to hold off a late Dowagiac rally.

The Chieftains, who trailed 10-6 after one period of play and 24-14 at halftime, played better in the second half.

The Chieftains got the lead down to 35-29 heading into the final eight minutes and then outscored the Lady Bulldogs 12-6 in the final eight minutes to knot the score at 41 at the end of regulation.

But in overtime Otsego sealed the victory at the free throw line.

Molly Sleeman led the Lady Bulldogs and all scorers with 17 points. Otsego also got 10 points from Kelsey Kuipers.

Dowagiac (2-4, 2-4 Wolverine) was led by Torie Lowe’s 15 points. The Chieftains also got 13 points from Kaisha Martin and six each from Britnee Allerton and Correshia Rodgers.

The Chieftains will host Vicksburg on Friday night in another  Wolverine Conference clash.
