Frankie’s life began on March 31, 1914, in Matthews, Ill., the daughter of Lum and Rose McWilliams.
She was united in marriage to Ralph Karnes in 1931 and married a second time to Arlie K. Sullivan in 1989.
She was employed as a practical nurse at the Chateau Nursing Home.
Frankie enjoyed dancing in her younger years, so much that you could not get her off the dance floor.
She had a remedy for every ill and was affectionately known as “Grandma Doctor.”
Frankie enjoyed life and those around her.
Her loving family includes: her son, Eugene (Roberta) Karnes of Dowagiac; grandchildren, Robin Matlock, Rick Karnes, Tammie Peffley, Eugene Karnes and Kim Wilkins; 15 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Frankie passed away on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.
She is preceded in death by both husbands; a son, Vernon Karnes; grandson, Scott Karnes; sisters, Willie Snedacker and Alvie McNeal; and brothers Ernie, Fred and Columbus McWilliams.
Her family will gather with friends on Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. led by Pastor Bill Martin of Keeler General Baptist Church.
She will be laid to rest in Lawrence Memorial Park in Lawrence, Ark.
