Brandywine girls remain unbeaten

BERRIEN SPRINGS – The beat goes on for the Brandywine girls’ basketball team.

The Bobcats improved to 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in the Lakeland Conference as they routed host Berrien Springs Tuesday night 60-40.

The game was close throughout the first half as Brandywine grabbed a 13-7 lead after one period of play, but the Shamrocks cut the advantage to just 25-22 at half time.

It was all Bobcats in the second half.

Brandywine increased its lead to eight points (40-32) heading into the fourth quarter and then outscored Berrien Springs 20-8 in the final eight minutes to turn the game into a rout.

Carlie Newman scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Bobcats, who also got 12 points from Lauren Leonard and seven points from Nicole Newman.

Madison Pellow chipped in with six points.

Mandy Bromilow and Koby Gillespie scored 13 and 12 points respectively for the Shamrocks.

Brandywine is back in action on Thursday night as it hosts Buchanan at 7:30 p.m.
