Police apprehended two juveniles carrying property stolen from unlocked vehicles in the vicinity of Courtland and Green streets in Dowagiac.

City Public Safety Director Tom Atkinson reports that in the early morning hours, officers from the Dowagiac Police Department were dispatched to the vehicle break-in call.

A Pokagon Tribal Police officer who was nearby was able to locate two juveniles, a 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old male, in the area carrying pieces of stolen property.
Dowagiac police officers arrived on the scene and were able to determine that the two juveniles had just entered a nearby vehicle that was unlocked and stole multiple items.
Police detained the juveniles, then later turned them back over to their parents.

Both juveniles will be petitioned to Probate Court.

Dowagiac Police Department reminds everyone to keep their vehicles locked and, when possible, to not store valuables in vehicles.
