Dr. Wierman folds his practice into Borgess-Lee Medical Group

Dr. James Wierman, who has been practicing at 400 W. Division St. since 1978, in 2007 received the Michigan State Medical Society’s “Volunteers Who Make a Difference” award for decades of volunteer medical work.

James Wierman, DO, board-certified internal medicine specialist, has joined Borgess Lee Medical Group.

“Dr. Wierman has been a pillar of this community for more than 30 years,” said Joy Strand, administrator and chief operating officer, Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.

“We are thrilled he has joined Borgess Lee Medical Group, and will continue to provide patients and their families with the experienced, compassionate care they’ve come to expect.”

Board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Wierman graduated with his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri and completed residency training from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, where he served one year as chief medical resident.

In 2007, Dr. Wierman received the Michigan State Medical Society’s “Volunteers Who Make a Difference” award for decades of volunteer medical work.

His work first began with extended service in Haiti and Rwanda in the 1970s, and today, he leads a volunteer mission to rural Haiti.

Dr. Wierman also founded and serves as president of the Cass County Free Health Clinic at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.

A fellow of the American College of Physicians, he is a member of the Cass County Medical Association, Michigan State Medical Society and American Medical Association.

Dr. Wierman’s private practice, formerly known as Dowagiac Medical Associates, P.C., officially became part of Borgess Lee Medical Group this past fall.

His practice, which opened to serve the community in 1978, will remain at 400 W. Division St.
