Dustan Craig, of Niles, who attends Buchanan High School, presented the Division 5 state football championship trophy at Ford Field in Detroit Thanksgiving weekend to Jackson Lumen Christi.

Craig is a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association Student Advisory Council. Craig is one of eight juniors from across the state that were nominated for a two-year appointment to the 16-member council.

He was nominated by Buchanan athletic director Fred Smith. Members are selected based on grade point average, athletic accomplishments, record of public and community service and essay questions.

The council meets bi-monthly and works on projects such as videos on sportsmanship, promotional materials for the MHSAA, position statements for the MHSAA, and most recently, it completed a “Captain’s Book” containing guidance and advice on leadership for captains of high school sports teams.
