Shawna Leya Brooks, 38, of Zainsville, Ohio died Dec. 13, 2009 of an extended illness.

She was born March 12, 1971. She was a 1989 graduate of Brandywine High School. She was a 20-year camp volunteer for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Michigan and Ohio.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Michael Wisecarver; sons, Daniel Cauffman and Taylor Wisecarver, of Zainsville; sisters, Sher Ringo, of Niles, Theresa (Paul) Law, of Boulder, Colo., and Rebecca (Patrick) Pilmore, of Elkhart; brothers, Richard (Danette) Eby, of Niles, John Eby, of Niles; stepmother, Diana Brooks, of Cassopolis.

She is preceded in death by a father, Robert A. Brooks, in 2001.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
