Eric E. Fredman, 90, of Sister Lakes, passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at his home.
Eric’s life began on Feb. 25, 1919, in Chicago, Ill.
He was united in marriage to the former Shirley Jenson Savage on Nov. 26, 1966, in Harvey, Ill.
Eric was a firefighter with the Harvey Fire Department, retiring as the senior captain after 20 years.
He was also a talented brick mason, well known in Sister Lakes for his beautiful fireplaces.
Eric was an avid golfer and Cubs fan.
He held membership in the Keeler United Methodist Church and formerly in the Sister Lakes Lions and Harvey Optimist Club.
His loving family includes: his wife of 43 years Shirley Fredman of Sister Lakes; his children, Bonnie Donaldson of Redmond, Wash., Lorraine Henshaw of Crown Point, Ind., Diane (Joe Kochis) Schumacher of Schererville, Ind., and Raymond (Lori) Fleming of Sister Lakes; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Eric is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Steven Fleming and Caroline Schumacher.
His family will gather with friends on Tuesday, Dec. 15, from noon to 1 p.m. Michigan time at Yazel and Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, where his memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. led by Pastor Julie Greyerbiehl of Keeler United Methodist Church.
