COLOMA – A big 31-point third quarter for the Buchanan Bucks boys basketball team lifted them to a 79-68 Lakeland Conference road win over Coloma Friday night.

Buchanan used an 11 player rotation to keep the game at a quick pace slowing wearing down the Comets who led at the half 28-24.

The Bucks (1-1, 1-0 Lakeland) didn’t help their own cause in the opening half missing 9-of-10 free throws and couldn’t get several of their shots to drop through the net.

The second half was a different story. After Bryan Kuntz dropped in a pair of free throws to tie the game at 36 the Bucks finished out the quarter with a 17-4 run to boost the lead to 15, 55-40 heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Leading the Bucks was Daniel Blackwell with 16 points as he knocked down four from 3-point land as the Bucks finished the game with eight from down town. Savon Brown added 10, Spencer Anglero chipped in with nine, and Jalen Brown tossed in eight.
All 11 of the Buchanan players scored in the win.

T.J. Scott led the Comets with 21 and Deidrick Swanigan finished the night with 13 for the Comets who drop to 0-2  and 0-1 in the league.

Buchanan also came out with a big third quarter of the junior varsity contest to comeback and take a 51-34 win. Justin Henderson led the Bucks with 14. Tyler Hester also connected with 14 for the Comets.
