BUCHANAN – The Buchanan wrestling team braved the elements to pick up a pair of victories Wednesday night.

The Bucks defeated visiting Watervliet 51-22 and St. Joseph 39-26.

Earning two victories for Buchanan were Andy Ketchum (125), Patrick Wheatley (130), Jeff Mucha (140), Adam Byrdak (152), Gage Hutchison (160), Mack Green (215) and Dustin Craig (285).

The Bucks are back on the mat on Saturday at the South Haven Invitational.

The Buchanan girls’ basketball team dropped to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in the Lakeland Conference as Coloma posted a 41-28 victory Wednesday night.

The Comets grabbed a 7-2 lead after one period of play and increased it to 19-12 by halftime.

Coloma then outscored the Bucks 22-16 in the second half to pull away to the victory.
Olivia Zvonor scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Comets to the win. Karleann Stankiewicz and Julie Timm both finished with six points.

Buchanan was led offensively by Elizabeth Hein’s six points.

Amanda Wynn, Julia LaBounty, Krystal Avance and Erin Glavin all netted four for the Bucks.

Buchanan returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 15 when it hosts Bangor in a non-conference contest.
