KALAMAZOO – Western Michigan football earned four second team nods and three third team nods on the 2009 All-Mid-American Conference team, announced by the league office recently.

Brandon West was named All-MAC for the third time in his career and Tim Hiller, Juan Nunez and Austin Pritchard each earned All-MAC for the second-straight season.

West (Brunsick, Ga./Camden County HS) was named Second Team All-MAC Offense as a running back for the second time, garnering that same award as a running back and a kick return specialist during his sophomore campaign in 2007. West became only the third Bronco back to rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons and finished his career third on the all-time rushing list with 3,671 rushing yards.  West also broke the NCAA Division I FBS records for career kick return yards (3,118) and all-purpose yards (7,764).  He is the program record holder for kick returns, kick return yards and all-purpose yards in a game, season and career, and the conference record holder for kick return yards and all-purpose yards in a career.  He finished the 2009 campaign leading the MAC in all-purpose yards per game (196.5 yards) and ranked second in the nation, had five 100-yard rushing games and 10 rushing TDs.

Hiller (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville HS) rewrote the WMU record book over the past two seasons en route to earning Third Team All-MAC Offense in 2008 and Second Team All-MAC Offense this year.  Hiller ranked second in the conference with 270.8 passing yards per game and tied for second with 23 touchdowns.  He now owns the WMU record for passing attempts, completions, yards and total offense in a game, season and career.  He is the WMU record holder for passing TDs in a season and career, total offensive plays in a season and career and is tied for the most 300-yard passing games in a career (16).  Hiller is also tied for second in MAC history with 99 passing TDs.

Anthony Parker (North Miami Beach, Fla./North Miami Beach HS) started every game at offensive tackle for the second-straight season en route to earning Second Team All-MAC Offense.  The sophomore has started 25-straight games, the longest active streak on the Bronco offensive line.  He is a member of an offensive line that has paved the way for a 1,000-yard rusher in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1999-2000.

Pritchard (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon HS) set new career marks in 2009, amassing 102 tackles during his senior campaign and averaging 9.3 stops per game.  He tied for third on the team with 7.0 tackles for loss, added 1.5 sacks, thre pass break ups, four QB hurries, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and one of four blocked kicks on the season for WMU.  He had 10 or more tackles in seven of 11 games played this season, including in back-to-back games on three separate occasions.  He amassed a season high 14 stops against Eastern Michigan.

Robert Arnheim (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater HS) emerged as the Broncos most dependable receiver in 2009, hauling in a team high 59 catches for a team high 701 yards on his way to earning Third Team All-MAC Offense.  The sophomore had a pair of 100-yard receiving games with a career high 112 against Central Michigan.  He led the Broncos in receiving yards in five of 12 games played.

Despite being held to just six games played in 2009, Nunez (Miami, Fla./Miami Carol City HS) earned Second Team All-MAC Offense for his second-straight all-conference accolade.  The junior ranked third on the team with 435 receiving yards and had 32 receptions.  His six touchdown grabs were the most on the team and he racked up a career high 151 receiving yards in the season opener at Michigan.  Nunez, the recipient of Hiller’s record-breaking 88th career passing TD, will bring a 20-game reception streak into 2010.

Ben Armer, (Janesville, Wis./Parker HS) just named MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week on Tuesday, earned Third Team All-MAC Special Teams.  The sophomore bombed six punts 50 yards or longer, including a career-long 62-yard punt, in 2009.  He held the opponent inside its own 20-yard line 22 times, more than double his previous best of 10 times set in 2008.  He forced 13 fair catches, besting his previous mark of two from a year ago.  He is the first Bronco punter to earn All-MAC since Adam Anderson did so in back-to-back seasons (2003-04).
