Finally, the Dowagiac girls’ basketball team will open its season tonight against host Comstock in a Wolverine Conference contest.

Tip-off for the varsity game is slated for 7:15 p.m. The junior varsity contest will begin at 5:45.

Comstock does not have a freshmen squad, so Dowagiac will have to wait until next week before ninth grade squad hits the hardwood.

Following Friday night’s game, the Chieftains will be off until the following Friday night when it plays its first girl-boy doubleheader.

Allegan will be traveling to Dowagiac to take on the Chieftains.

The freshmen and junior varsity girls’ and boys’ team will both play Thursday night, while the two varsity teams will play on Friday night.

Thursday’s schedule will have the freshmen boys’ teams playing at Allegan beginning with the freshman contest at 6 p.m.

The Chieftain girls teams will host the Lady Tigers, beginning with the freshman game at 6 p.m.

On Friday night, Dowagiac’s girls will play at 5:45. The boys will square off at 7:15 p.m.

Dowagiac’s wrestling team opened its season Wednesday night and will be back in action on Saturday as it travels to Vicksburg.

Wrestling begins at 9 a.m. and there will be five matches for the Chieftains.
