Eddies, Cass both win

WHITE PIGEON – Rachel Vite scored 11 points and hauled down 11 rebounds as Edwardsburg opened up the 2009-10 girls’ basketball season with a 36-32 win over host White Pigeon Tuesday night.

The Lady Eddies also got six points from Sarah D’Amico and five points each from Mariah Murphy and Emily Kozinski.

D’Amico also had seven rebounds and four assists, while Kozinski had eight rebounds and two teams.

THREE OAKS – Visiting Cassopolis kicked off its season with a victory Tuesday night over host River Valley, 38-28.

The Lady Rangers trailed 10-6 after one period, but grabbed a 15-12 halftime lead and never looked back.

River Valley cut the lead to 20-18 heading into the fourth quarter, but Cassopolis outscored the Lady Mustangs 18-10 in the final eight minutes to pull away to the victory.

Savannah Sullivan had 16 points to lead the Lady Rangers, who also got nine points from Damonica Kelly and eight points from Reese Ellison.
