Ruby Jewel Grooms, 87, of Riveridge Manor Nursing Home, Niles, died at 5:10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at Riveridge of natural causes.

She was born April 4, 1922 in Estill Springs, Tenn. She married Joseph F. Grooms on Jan. 26, 1938. He preceded her in death. She lived in the Niles-Buchanan area since 1948. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her sons, James Kenneth (Jeanne) Grooms, of Greenbrier, Ark. Jerry Thomas Grooms, of Niles, Jackie Doyle Grooms, of Manchester, Tenn.; daughters, Audie Jewel Dreher, of Conway, Ark., Shirley Jean (Robert) Burgoyne, of Niles, Jeannette Diane (Ray) Isek, of Niles, Joy Kaye (Robert) Irwin, of Hendersonville, N.C., special niece, Linda (Ron) Torgeson, of Niles; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jospeh; parents, John (Audie) Miles and Amanda (Orville) Hodge; two sons, Joseph Granville Grooms and Jeffrey Dean Grooms; a daughter, Janice Carolyn Grooms; three brothers, J.W. Miles, Robert Miles and Hubert Miles; and a sister, Minnie Odell Byrom.

A graveside memorial will be held at a later date in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan.
Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
