George’s life began on March 31, 1948, in Paw Paw, son of George and Fay (Dobson) Hogue.

He was a graduate of Hartford High School.

George served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was awarded two bronze stars and a purple heart for his service.

On Aug. 3, 1991, George was united to the former Cindy Evans in St. Joseph. He had been employed as a machinist for Contech in Dowagiac.

George attended his A.A. meetings at Sister Lakes Community Church. He was a handy wood worker and enjoyed riding his bicycle.

His loving family includes: his wife, Cindy Hogue of Dowagiac; his mother, Fay Hogue of Dowagiac; his children, Dawn (Michael) Marquardt of Saint Joseph, Christina (Keri) Bryan of Portage and Stacia (Bryan Huggins) Evans of Sister Lakes; grandchildren, Philip, Katie, Nathan, Dante, Clarice, Katerina, Blaine and Sydney; sisters, Margaret (Danny) Smith of Three Rivers and Bonita “Bonnie” (Marty) Bell of Coloma; brothers, Norman (Darlene) Hogue of Niles and Paul Hogue of Sarasota, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

George passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at his home.

He is preceded in death by his father, George Hogue.

George’s family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where his funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

He will be laid to rest in Keeler Cemetery following services. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the D A V.
