Mary E. Haines, 88, of Cass Street, Niles, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at home followed an extended illness.
She was born May 14, 1921 in Whitewater, Wis. To George J. Zimmerman and Mabel Durkee Zimmerman. She lived in Niles since 1950, coming from Wisconsin. She was formerly employed at the Niles Plant of Green Giant. She was a member of the American Legion Post 26, VFW Post 4025, Fraternal Order of Eagles 2094 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1508, all in Niles.
She married Charles William Haines on March 24, 1945 at Truax Field, Madison, Wis. Charles died in April 2003.
She is survived by her sisters, Patricia (Mike) Little, of Niles, and Debrah Shaffer, of Niles; brothers, Bo (Gayla) Zimmerman, of Niles, and Chris (Agnes) Zimmerman, of Chicago; sister-in-law, Sarah Zimmerman, of Niles; special friends, Imojene Thomas, of Niles, and Ethel Jasper, of Niles; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; brothers, Woodrow Zimmerman, James Zimmerman and LaVerne Zimmerman; and sister, Bernadette Fluitt.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009. The family will receive friends at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2094.
