Harriet’s life began on Feb. 13, 1920, in Hillsdale, N.J., the daughter of Albert P. and Laura C. (Price) White.

Harriet, 89, of Sister Lakes, was a 1937 graduate of Rutherford High School.

Harriet earned her bachelor’s degree at Bates College in Maine and her master’s degree at Ohio University.

Harriet had three careers in her life with the final career being director of personnel for Illinois Bell, retiring in 1985.

Her loving family includes: her niece, Shirley Burgess of Port Richey, Fla.; great nephews, Glenn Burgess of Fullerton, Calif., Bruce (Donna) Burgess of Dallas, Texas, and Richard (Linda) Burgess of Houston, Texas; great niece, Joyce Bartlett of Manahawkin, N.J.; her companion, Jean Williams of Sister Lakes; and extended family, Linda (Ken) Eckert of Rotunda West, Fla., Jeanne (Wade) Marton of Fox River Grove, Ill., Thomas (Kristin) LaJeunesse of Crystal Lake, Ill., Mackenzie and Samuel Marton of Fox River Grove and Danielle, Kaylie and Emma LaJeunesse of Crystal Lake.

Harriet passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital, Dowagiac.
Her family will gather with friends on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 3:30 p.m. (Michigan time) at Silver Creek United Methodist Church, Dowagiac (31994 Middle Crossing Road) for a memorial service honoring her life led by Pastor Julie Greylerbierhl.
