The Miss Niles Scholarship Organization will crown its 76th queen at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Niles High School Auditorium.  Fourteen contestants will vie for an opportunity to become Miss Niles 2010.

The theme for this year’s contest is “Disney’s Dream: It Started with a Mouse.”  Each of the 14 contestants will take part in an opening number to a remix version of the “Mickey Mouse Club March.”  Afterward, they will all participate in an on-stage “Communication Spotlight” in which they will share with the judges and audience a little about their individual dreams.  Finally they will take part in two formal presentations in the evening gown of their choice.

Along with the crowning of the 2010 queen and court, there will also be a farewell from the 2009 Queen, Zarah Mumaw; first runner-up and Miss Congeniality Courtney Brattain; second runner-up Leah Kachur; and Mr. Niles, Zac Archer.  Each will be giving a short farewell speech as well as the queen having a picture slideshow to capture her 2009 reign.

The 2010 Miss Niles will compete in the 2010 Blossomtime contest and take part in the Blossomtime Goodwill Tour.  During the Goodwill Tour, she will travel southwest Michigan’s farms, hospitals, nursing homes and schools.  She will also visit the capitol building in Lansing and the Children’s Shriner’s Hospital in Chicago.
