The Niles Ring Lardner eighth grade Gold team edged Buchanan 37-35 in overtime  on Thursday.

The Vikings led 21-9 at halftime, but Buchanan came storming back in the third and fourth quarters to force an extra session.

Niles (1-1) was led by J. Wortham with 10 points and Kale Pollard and Mason Finley with nine points each.

Nick Knoll had seven assists, while Finley and Pollard both had five rebounds.
Tyler Clutter and Knoll both had two steals.

Seventh grade
The seventh grade Gold team dropped a close one to Buchanan on Thursday.

Alex Hardy and John Hampton, along with Mike Martin were the leading scorers for the Vikings.

Top rebounders were Jalen Alexander and Alex Bata.

Singled out for their defensive efforts were Raymond Terry and Nick Suckle.

Niles had nine steals and 12 rebounds in the contest.

The Vikings played host to Coloma Friday afternoon.
