Union High School sent a letter home to parents Wednesday.

“Over the past couple of days,” Principal Paul Hartsig writes, “(DUHS) has had a series of graffiti incidents in our boy’s and girl’s bathrooms. Some of this graffiti has referred to bomb threats made against the school. These threats are a hoax.

“The administration has been thoroughly reviewing our video cameras and following up on all leads. The police have been contacted (and) we are working cooperatively with them.

“Van Buren and Dowagiac police dogs have searched the building and our students and staff are safe and secure.

“It is our intent to continue school as normal while working to identify those involved in the graffiti,” the principal wrote Nov. 11.

Similar incidents were also reported at Dowagiac Middle School.
