Another key injury for IrishPublished 9:32am Wednesday, November 11, 2009
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – There was more bad news for the Notre Dame football team on Tuesday as head coach Charlie Weis announced that tight end Kyle Rudolph may be lost for the remainder of the regular season.
Rudolph injured his shoulder in the Fighting Irish’s 23-21 upset loss to Navy at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday.
Rudolph caught just two passes against Navy before suffering the injury on his second catch.
Rudolph was second on the team in receptions with 33 catches and 364 yards. The sophomore tight end had three touchdowns and was averaging 11 yards per reception.
Weis was not specific about the injury other than to say it was his shoulder. He did say nothing was broken and that it was a muscular injury in the shoulder area.
“Rudy probably won’t be back for the rest of the regular season. (Bobby) Burger is back. So (Mike) Ragone will start and he will be backed up by Burger,” Weis said.
