Former Dowagiac resident Margaret E. McDonald, 62, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. Cremation has taken place.

Her family will have a memorial service to honor her life at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Maple Hill Cemetery near Hartford.

Pastor Timothy Nyhuis of Hartford Federated Church will officiate.

Margaret was born Aug. 5, 1947, in Russell, Ark., the daughter of Emerson and Bonnie (Jones) Rains.

Margaret is survived by: her children, Lynn McGrew, Stanley (Amy) McGrew and Tracy (Jim) Johnson of Hartford; her brothers and sisters, Glen Rains of Florida, Brenda (Harold) Moon of Dowagiac, Madeline Bigel, David (Kathy) Rains of Florida, Scott (Lori) Rains of Mississippi and Corrin (John) Merckley and Hattie Marie Boles, both of Kentucky, and Mike (Staria) Rains; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way; two special friends, Carol Applegate and Kenny Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by: her parents, a sister, Fay (Dick) Lawrence; and a brother, Joe Rains.
