Opal “Gram” Dickeson, 92 / Dec. 10, 1916 – Oct. 25, 2009

Opal L. “Gram” Dickeson, of Stateline Road and formerly of Howard Street, Niles, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 at West Woods of Niles following an extended illness.

Opal was born Dec. 10, 1916 to William L. Dickeson and Nellie Bessie Hubbard Dickeson in Niles. She was a lifetime Niles resident.

Opal retired in April 1981 after more than 30 years of service from Simplicity Pattern Co. She enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling, especially “going Greyhound” to see the country.

Opal is survived by a son, Richard L. Dickeson, Niles; grandsons, Doug Dickeson of Niles and Danny Dickeson of Hamlet, Ind.; granddaughter, Diane Dickeson, Kentucky; great-grandson, Joshua Dickeson, Grand Rapids, Mich.; great-granddaughter, Danielle Keysor, Kalamazoo, Mich.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Dickeson; brothers, Virgil, Sylvester and Robert Dickeson; sisters, Lucille Cheney, Hazel Young and Esther Hoyt.

Private funeral services will be held Oct. 30, 2009 at The Graveside with the Rev. Paul Deeds of Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle-Buchanan. Burial will be held at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.

There will be no public visitation. Arrangements were made at Halbritter Funeral Home.
