Richard M. Best. 90, of Buchanan, Mich., died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 of natural causes at home.

Richard was born Oct. 24, 1918 in Buchanan Township. A lifelong area resident, he married Edna (Savely) Best on June 21, 1941 in Cassopolis. He was an avid sports fan.
Richard is survived by his wife, Edna, of Buchanan; son, Richard “Dick” (Sherry) Best, of Buchanan; daughters, Jo Ann (Gerald) Ott, of Niles, Jacqueline (Terry) Bannister, of Buchanan; brothers: Ralph Best, Buchanan, Albert Best, Buchanan and David (Bobbie) Best, Cassopolis; sister, Barbara (Robert) Albrecht, of Niles; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bernice Best, and two grandchildren, Dan and Terri Ott.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at Hoven Funeral Home in Buchanan. Burial will be held in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Friends may call from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 at Hoven Funeral Home.
