Eddies bow to Comets

In a showdown of Lakeland Conference leaders, host Coloma defeated Edwardsburg 3-1 to take over first place in the conference.

The Lady Comets captured the first set 25-10 as the Lady Eddies got off to a slow start.

But Edwardsburg rallied to tie the match at 1-1 with a commanding 25-13 victory.

From there, it was back and forth between the two teams with Coloma taking the third set 25-23 and the second set 25-22.

Elise Mackling led the Lady Eddies with 17 kills, 12 digs, three blocks and two aces.

Emily Kozinski added eight kills, two digs and a block, while Paige Mueller had 10 digs and three aces.

Edwardsburg also got six blocks and two kills from Ellen Miller and six assist, an ace and nine digs from Jenn Mackling.

Emily Getz finished the night with two kills, nine assists and 14 digs. Maddi Mueller added 12 digs, an ace and two kills.

The host Lady Rangers defeated New Buffalo in a non-conference match Monday night 25-15, 25-19, 9-25 and 25-22.

“The girls played great defense and offense tonight,” Cass coach Brooke Borsa said. “I am pleased that they played as a team and talked on the court.”
