Jean C. House Leda, 76, of West Woods of Niles, died Tuesday, Oct. 20 following an extended illness.

Jean was born June 11, 1933 in Lincoln Township, Mich., to William Kolberg and Hattie Grieger Kolberg.

She married Paul Leda on March 28, 1977 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles. She has lived in Niles, Buchanan and Baroda.

Jean retired in 1995 after 44 years of service at Simplicity Pattern Co. in Niles. She was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles; a member of the Bookbinders Union at Simplicity; and enjoyed traveling and casinos.

She is survived by: husband, Paul; sons, Kevin (Sue) House of Niles and David (Lisa) House) of Bristol, Ind.; daughter, Kimerly (Terry) Eldridge of Niles; grandchildren: Todd, Mandee, Montana, Carly, Dustin and Brooke; great-grandchildren; Macey, Dayton, Willow and Talon; and sisters, Joyce Schmidt, Saint Joseph, Mich., and Jane Kolberg, Saint Joseph.

She is proceded in death by son, Daniel House, who died Oct. 25, 2004; sister, Joan Kolberg; and brother, Wayne Kolberg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Carl W. Bassett of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will be held at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church.
