EAST LANSING – High school football teams around the state will fire up their high definition television sets on Sunday at 7 p.m. when Fox Sports Detroit makes the announcement of  the qualifiers and pairings for the 2009 Michigan High School Athletic Association Football Playoffs during the Selection Sunday Show, which will originate from FSDetroit’s new HD studio in its Southfield headquarters.

The 30-minute program, hosted by FSN’s Mickey York and Trevor Thompson, will provide a rundown of the 256 teams that have qualified for the MHSAA Playoffs, as well as their first round matchups and game sites.

The show will air again that evening at 10:30.

“The Selection Sunday Show has created a great atmosphere for the beginning of the playoffs, as teams gather together to celebrate their great season, and then watch to find out about their tournament draw,” said John Johnson, communications director for the MHSAA. “Selection Sunday is one of the biggest television shows we do with FSN all year long, and it’s also one of the biggest nights of the year for our web site, mhsaa.com.”
Following the completion of the Selection Sunday Show at about 7:30 p.m., the MHSAA Web site – mhsaa.com – will provide the complete list of playoff qualifiers and first round pairings.

Actual game times will be added to the list the following day as they are determined and provided by the participating schools.
