Betty Jean Northrop-Koch / 1941-2009

Betty Jean Northrop-Koch, 67, passed away on Sunday morning, Oct. 11, 2009 in Scottsdale, Ariz., while visiting her daughter, Jaime Gidley, two grandsons and two great-granddaughters.

Private burial services will take place at a later date at Kendall Cemetery, Kendall.

Betty was born on Oct. 21, 1941 in Kalamazoo, to the late Asahel Dudley Northrop and Velma Northrop-Stanchek.

She was formerly employed with Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. as a Registered Nurse.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and cats.

She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and collecting Westmoreland Glassware.

On Sept. 21, 1984, she married Richard Koch in Buchanan, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Jaime Gidley of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jayson Fankhauser of Niles; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-children, Jerry Koch of St. Joseph, Lisa Vetter of Quakertown, Pa. and Lori Koch of Collegeville, Pa.; nine step-grandchildren.

She also leaves two cats who loved her dearly, “Miss Kitty” and “Miss Skiddles.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Asahel Northrop and Velma Northrop-Stanchek; step-father, Joseph Stanchek; sister, Lila Sturgeon, brother, Johnny Northrop and her daughter Jennifer Polly.

Local arrangements were by Swem Funeral Home, Buchanan.
