Andrew L. Grenert, 56, of Elkhart, Ind., died on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2009, in Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Ind.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Friday, Oct. 16, at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, Ind., where funeral services will begin at noon. Cremation will follow.

He was born on April 29, 1953, in South Bend, Ind., to Franklin and Betty (Lindsley) Grenert.

He worked in the construction industry. He loved fishing, bowling, wood working and his dog.

On Dec. 30, 1976, in Niles, he married Debra Draper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judy Hagen and a brother, Marvin Hickey.

Surviving family includes his wife, Debra; daughter, Dessa (Chino Cabera) Grenert of South Bend, Ind.; a son, Nathan (Yumiko) Grenert of Elkhart, Ind.; grandchildren, Alan and Sam Cabrea, Amelia and Jared Grenert; sisters, Vickie Draper of Niles, Marie (Steve) Ingle of Niles, Colleen Grenert of South Bend, Ind.; brothers, Jimmy Hickey of Mishawaka, Ind., Bobby Peglow of South Bend, Ind., Tony Grenert of South Bend, Ind. and Robert Hickey of Niles and his step-father, James E. Hickey.
