EAST LANSING – Former Niles standout Patty Anton has made the Michigan State rowing team as a walk-on.

The Spartan rowing team was ranked No. 6 in last year’s final pool and are the defending Big Ten Conference champions.

Anton, a freshman at MSU, will begin on the novice team since she has no prior rowing experience.

While at Niles, Anton earned nine varsity letters in volleyball, softball and tennis.

She was also a finalist for the MHSAA Scholar-Athlete Award in 2008-09.
