In a Big 16 Conference crossover match, visiting Kalamazoo Central swept the singles flights to edge Niles 5-3 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Vikings won three out of four doubles flights and went three sets at No. 4 doubles, but could not come up with the victory.

Winning for Niles were Chris and Alex Lewellen, who defeated Joe Zywicki and Zech Dueweke 6-2 and 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.

The Lewellen brothers played on the Vikings’ new courts for the first time this season.

Niles added a pair of courts to now give the school eight courts. The remaining six courts are scheduled to be resurfaced in the summer of 2010.

Also winning for the Vikings were the No. 2 doubles duo of Colin Leonard and Danny Touhey, who defeated Vance Cogwell and Alex Robinson 6-2 and 6-2.

At No. 3 doubles, Mitch Peterek and Chad Majerek defeated Harrison Ladd and Young Chang 6-3 and 6-1.
