Louise D. Cox, 73, of Dowagiac, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009 at her home.

Her family gathered on Monday evening at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home in Dowagiac, where her funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, led by Pastor Jon Den Houter.

She was laid to rest in South Wayne Cemetery following the service.

Louise’s life began in December 1935 in Dowagiac, the daughter of Allan and Permelia (Warner) Johnson.

She was united in marriage to Robert Moore, who survives in Green Valley, Ariz., and then to Charles Cox, who preceded her in death.

Louise was the deputy treasurer of Cass County for several years. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Dowagiac and served as a deaconess. Louise was the past president of the Cass County Republican Party.

Her loving family includes her mother, Permelia Johnson of Dowagiac; her children Robert (Pamela) Moore of Niles, Cherie (Jim) Bradford of Dowagiac, and Susan (Scott) Johnson of Charlotte, N.C.; stepchildren, Donna (Bill) Stoll of Vandalia, Dianna (Luke) Shubert of Lakeville, Ind., Christine (John) Michael of South Bend, Ind., Charles “Buddy” (Rebecca) Cox, Jr. of Detroit; grandchildren, Rebecca and Rachel Moore of Niles, Joy (Rob) Benoit of Mesa, Ariz., Dana Molter and Marci ( Dale) Killarney, Jr. of Dowagiac and Jared (Colleen) Bradford of Cassopolis, Cindy Stutzman, Michael Stoll and Jason Stoll; great-grandchildren, Andrew Stull, Haven Angell, Arika, Jenna and Heidi Hemmingway and Rowan Bradford; sisters, Linda (Leo) Jahnz of Elida, Ohio, Allan (Julie) Johnson, Jr. of Crossville, Tenn., and Dan (Marge) Johnson of Mesa, Ariz. and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a grandson Robby Stoll in 2008.
