BRIDGMAN – The Dowagiac varsity volleyball team was two and out at the Bridgman Invitational on Monday.

“I warned the girls coming in tonight that when it comes to pool play we could not afford to lose a early set,” Dowagiac coach Ryan Frontczak said. “Thats what we did. We lost our first set to River Valley. Then we beat them in the second one. We were then in a must win situation against Bridgman, who is much improved from last year. We knew going in lose one match and we go home. We just did not show up when it mattered most.”

The Chieftains split with River Valley 19-21 and 21-15 and lost to Bridgman 21-17 and 21-13.

“Tonight we had little to no offense once again,” Frontczak said. “We keep going in streaks as a team. We as a team can’t afford let down now, we are in the toughest part of our schedule. The girls must come together and play the way we are capable of.”
