Jackson Lumen Christi takes Buchanan tennis crown

BUCHANAN – Behind the sweep of the single flights, Jackson Lumen Christi easily won the Buck Classic III tennis championship on Saturday.

The tournament was played at Leeper Park in South Bend, Ind. and Edwardsburg High School.

Lumen Christi finished with 78 points to easily defeat runner-up Portland, which finished with 58 points.

Bridgman was third (40), Buchanan fourth (36), Edwardsburg fifth (29), Paw Paw sixth (24), Brandywine seventh (13) and Hillsdale eighth (0).

Buchanan had two runner-up finishes – one in singles and one in doubles.

Tyler Lindorf finished second at No. 1 singles after falling to Lumen Christi’s Joey White 7-6 and 6-1.

The Bucks’ No. 4 doubles team of John Backus and Jalen Brown were defeated by Portland’s Mitchell Hoppes and Jared Guy 6-0 and 6-3.
