John C. Schabloski, 58, of Coldwater, passed away at his home Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, Sept. 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with Father Stephen Bartlett officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 27, 1951 in Madison, Wis. to Harold J. and Dorothy (Zitlow) Schabloski.

John graduated from Coldwater High School with the class of 1969. He furthered his education at Indiana College of Mortuary Science in Indianapolis graduating in September 1976.

He served his apprenticeship at the Putnam Funeral Home and passed his state board in January 1978. He was a member of Michigan Funeral Directors Association, President of District No. 2 in 1984, Vice President of District  No. 3 in 2002 and President of District  No. 3 in 2003. He was board certified for funeral service examining boards of the United State of America, Michigan Eye Bank Transplant Center.

He was Vice President of the Board of Education at Pansophia Academy. John was also a member of the Elks Club No. 1023 of Coldwater, F. & A.M. Humanity Lodge 29 of Homer and had formerly been a member of Kiwanis, Lions, Chamber of Commerce (Niles, Elk Rapids and Traverse City) and Rotary.

John had worked at the Everiss Funeral Home in Adrian, Gillespie Funeral Home in Coldwater, Pifer-Smith Funeral Home in Niles, Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City, the Tidd-Williams Funeral Home in Albion and had just accepted a job in Tucson, Ariz.

He is survived by his sons; Jason (Mashaun) Schabloski of Quincy, Justin Schabloski also of Quincy, a sister, Pamela Arredondo of Coldwater and fiancé Rebecca Rupp of Coldwater.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

John loved his two sons and had a love of cars.
