Vicksburg hands Dowagiac 4-1 setback

Tucker Callanan and Jesse Boulnemour each scored two goals as visiting Vicksburg defeated Dowagiac 4-1 in a Wolverine Conference soccer match on Wednesday.

Callanan scored both of his goals in the first half as the Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead at halftime.

Callanan scored the match’s first goal just six minutes into the match off an assist from Andrew Muzljakovich.

Vicksburg extended its lead to 2-0 on Callanan’s second goal with just over 13 minutes remaining in the first half.

That goal was assisted by Mike Waldon.

Dowagiac was able to cut the lead to 2-1 with four and a half minutes remaining in the open half as Hazen McMeeken found the back of the net.

In the second half it was Boulnemour’s turn to get into the scoring act.

His goal just six minutes in the second half made it a 3-1 match.

Boulnemour then completed the scoring with 16:26 remaining off an assist from Scott Schimp.

The Bulldogs outshot Dowagiac 29-14.

Vicksburg’s Kyle Johnson stopped 10 shots and Dowagiac’s Jason Turner stopped seven.
