Lady Rangers fall to Beavers

The Cassopolis volleyball team dropped a tough five set decision to visiting Eau Claire.

The Lady Rangers lost the first set 25-5, but rebounded to win the next two 25-14 and 27-25.

The Lady Beavers then won the fourth set 25-19 to force a fifth and deciding set.
Eau Claire won that one 15-10.

Olivia Stewart had 10 assists and six kills for the Lady Rangers, who also got 16 assists and two kills from Jessica Biek.

Kristen Fitzsimons finished with five kills.

“The girls played hard and played great defense,” Cass coach Brooke Borsa said.

Union City Invitational
UNION CITY – The Cassopolis varsity volleyball team went 0-5 at the Union City Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Rangers lost to Centreville (25-12, 25-10), Coldwater (25-13, 25-18), Quincy (25-14, 25-18), Penwater (25-19, 25-20) and Union City (25-17, 25-9).

“With a key starter injured on Thursday, today was an important day for learning a new rotation,” Cassopolis coach Brooke Borsa said.

Defending Lakeland Conference champion Coloma defeated host Cassopolis 25-14, 25-21 and 25-16.

Kristen Fitzsimons had two solo blocks and two kills for the Lady Rangers, who also had a solo block from Jessica Biek.
